Bicycles Must Be Labeled SNI – The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) continues to work to boost the competitiveness of the local bicycle industry. Forms of support are provided, among others, by encouraging business actors or producers to implement a quality management system and provide services to obtain certificates Product Sign Usage Standar Indonesian National (SPPT SNI).

Regulation of the Minister of Industry Number 30 of 2018 concerning Compulsory Enforcement of Indonesian National Standards for Two-Wheeled Bicycles.

Two-wheeled bicycles are vehicles that have 2 wheels that are driven and controlled by the driver's power independently by using pedals, running on land, and on steerable wheels.

The division of two-wheeled bicycle types is seen from 6 parts, which include:

• skeleton
• fork
• steering handlebar
• saddle
• pedal
• stem

In terms of physical specification standards, general and children's bicycles can be distinguished as follows:

• Two-wheeled bicycles have a minimum saddle height of 635 mm.
• Meanwhile, two-wheeled children's bicycles have a minimum saddle height of 435 mm and a maximum of 635 mm.
• Children's bicycles can withstand loads of up to 30 (thirty) kg with or without 2 side wheels.

Classification

Article 3 paragraph 2 states that this SNI is compulsorily applicable to two-wheeled bicycles with model classifications in the form of:

• Child's bicycle
• City bikes or city bikes
• Mountain bike or mountain bike (MTB)
• Racing bikes, weighing over 12 kg
• Folding bikes or folding bikes
• BMX bike

Article 4 paragraph 1 explains that this SNI applies to two-wheeled bicycles produced domestically and imported circulating in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia.

Due to certain conditions, there are several types of two-wheeled bicycles that are not required to be SNI, namely:

• Test sample items in the framework of the application for the issuance of the SPPT-SNI for two-wheeled bicycles.
• Goods test samples in the context of research and development.
• Samples for exhibitions.
• Goods for special purposes, namely for competitions or international level competitions in the country.
